Core Values of the Mandarin Seventh-day Adventist Church

1. We Value the Bible

It is God's revealed word. Authentic biblical preaching and teaching is the change agent of transformation in peoples' lives and in the church. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17; James 1:23-25).

2. We Value Prayer

Prayer reveals that we believe God exists, that He cares, that He listens, and that He desires to be involved in our lives. We express our appreciation and love to God through prayer and, also seek His guidance. The purpose of prayer is not to change God, but to change us, that by faith we will trust His providence. Prayer is to be simple, not simplistic, and though this open channel we have the privilege of talking with God all throughout the day. (Hebrews 11:6, 1 John 5:14; Matthew 6:9-13; James 4:2, Matthew 6:5-7; Acts 2:42).

3. We Value Lost People

Since lost people matter to God they matter to us. Jesus Christ allowed Himself to be crucified in order to save lost people, that we all might have a joy-filled relationship with Him that lasts forever. (John 3:16; Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:47; Matthew 1:21; Hebrews 9:22; Romans 3:23-26; Romans 15:13; John 15:11).

4. We Value Spiritual Maturity

Christ's followers should display spiritual authenticity and desire continuous growth. (Philippians 1:6; Hebrews 13:12; Ephesians 4:15; 1 Peter 2:2; 2 Peter 3:18).

5. We Value the Mobilization of Spiritual Gifts

Christ has equipped each of us with a spiritual gift(s), which we are to discover, develop and deploy into practical ministry. We experience unity and growth when we use our gifts. (Ephesians 4; 1 Corinthians 12; Romans 12; Matthew 25:14-30; 1 Peter 4:10).

6. We Value Loving Relationships

People should see Christ in us, which is most evident in how we treat others. Therefore, loving relationships will filter through every aspect of our lives. (1 Corinthians 13; John 13:34-35; Galatians 5:22-26; Matthew 23:29; Galatians 4:19).

7. We Value Full Commitment to Christ

Full devotion to Christ and His cause is an appropriate expectation for all believers. (Revelation 318-22; Revelation 14:12; 1 Corinthians 9:26; Romans 8:35-39; Hebrews 12:1-3; 1 Kings 11:4; Philippians 2:1-11; 2 Corinthians 8:7).

8. We Value Cultural Relevance

We will teach and preach our distinctive message in a way that is meaningful to the people we are trying to reach. We will put forth extraordinary effort in arresting people's attention, innovating new ways for causing truth to stand out clearly and distinctly. We will use sound reason and judgment in devising different-methods to save different kinds of people. (1 Corinthians 9:19-23; 1 Chronicles 12:32).

9. We Value Stewardship

God has entrusted us to be wise and faithful stewards of time, money, talents, and assets. The financing of church ministries and operations should be supported by every believer on a systematic basis. (Malachi 3:8; 2 Corinthians 9:7).

10. We Value Christian Education

Children are a gift from God and have been entrusted to our care. Our responsibility of education does not end with academics, we must also teach them about their Heavenly Father, instilling within them a sense of His purpose and His values. (Proverbs 22:6; Matthew 19:14; Matthew 18:5-6).

11. We Value Excellence

Excellence honors God and inspires people; this requires us to do our best in all things. (Colossians 3:17; Proverbs 27:17; Malachi 1:6-14; 2 Corinthians 8:7).

12. We Value Church Organization

The Mandarin Church belongs to a global network of churches in the Seventh-day Adventist denomination, and thorough and organized, unified and concerted effort, we are working together to fulfill the Gospel Commission in preparation of Christ's soon return. (1 Corinthians 12; Ephesians 4; Matthew 28:19-20; Revelation 14:1-6).
